Healthy Kids: For a healthy Oregon

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a date stamp and why is it important?

We all know that individuals without health coverage are far more likely to go without regular, preventive care and end up getting expensive treatment in the emergency room. Your date stamp allows all trained staff to establish a date of request (DOR) on an Oregon Healthy Kids/OHP Application (7210) and an Application for Services (415F). If an applicant is found eligible for the no-cost option of Healthy Kids (OHP Plus) or an adult medical program, their coverage may be retroactive back to the date of request stamped on the application.

Additionally, having a date stamp allows outreach sites to:

  • Order medical applications to keep on site
  • Assist patients filling out an application
  • Receive information on the status of the application once it’s submitted

Where do I stamp the application?

How big is the date stamp, and what information does it contain?

Will our facility receive any support once we obtain our date stamp?

Absolutely! The Office of Healthy Kids has an innovative outreach program and staff are available to answer questions, provide trainings for you and your staff, and help set up a referral system with community partners to assist patients with the application.

Also, Healthy Kids has a variety of marking materials (banners, flyers, brochures) and other tools that come at no cost to you.

What if my facility is closed to new OHP clients?

You can still date stamp applications. Obtaining a date stamp does not require you to see more or accept more OHP clients. Both the low-cost and full-cost options of Healthy Kids offer the same comprehensive benefits as the no-cost portion (medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, etc), but the coverage is provided through private carriers. The four carriers that operate within this public-private partnership are:

  • Kaiser
  • Trillium
  • Pacific Source (statewide)
  • Samaritan

No family earns too much for Healthy Kids. A family of four making between $44,900 and $67,200 per year may be eligible for the low-cost option of Healthy Kids.
