Cost
There are three options for Healthy Kids coverage, each based on a family's income: no-cost, low-cost or full-cost.
No-cost
For the no-cost option, you do not pay for coverage.
A family of four that earns $46,300 or less per year may qualify for the no-cost option.
Low-cost
For the low-cost option, families pay a small portion of the monthly premium on a sliding scale; how much they pay depends on their income. On average, families with two to four children will pay a total of about $50 a month for health coverage for all kids. American Indians and Alaska Natives who qualify for the low-cost option do not pay monthly premiums.
A family of four that earns between $46,300 to $69,380 a year may qualify for the low-cost option.
Full-cost
For the full-cost option, families buy into the program at full cost. Current monthly rates range from $165 to $475 per child, depending on the age of the child and the plan of choice.
A family of four that earns $69,380 a year or more may qualify for the full cost option.
